Feeling fancy in the kitchen

Today I made Creme Brulee

Oh yes, I am feeling quite fancy pants.  If I told you how easy it is, would you still be impressed with my mad gourmet skills :-)  Because Holly Clegg has made it so easy and has put the recipe in her book, "Too Hot in the Kitchen".  I happen to be doing a giveaway for that very cookbook.  Click HERE and scroll to the bottom to enter :-)

Holly's recipe for "White Chocolate Creme Brulee" actually only requires 4 ingredients.  Pudding mix, milk, creme de cocoa, and sugar for the topping.  Just mix together and put in 4 small ramekins:

If you are like me, you might actually (slightly purposefully) neglect to get all the batter out of the mixing bowl:

And then eat it, because to leave it there would just be wasteful ... such a shame :-)

Put the ramekins in the fridge to keep the cherry tomatoes company :-)  It needs to be there about 5 - 10 minutes to get set.

Then take them out, put sugar on top, and search for your chef's torch:

Or if you don't have a chef's torch, you can use the broiler in your oven.  Hey, everyone might even think that you are very gourmet and have a chef's torch - that is unless you post about it on your blog.  I guess I just outed myself - I don't have a fancy kitchen gadget like a chef's torch :-)

Finished product.  This was my first creme brulee and I can definitely use some practice to get my sugar topping good and crunchy (like putting it closer to the broiler).  But hey, practice make perfect.  This recipe was not very expensive at all, so I definitely plan on working on the art of creme brulee.  And it is simply wonderful to smell and eat ... seriously soooo good :-)

Now it's your turn.  Enter the giveaway HERE and you also can be on your way to mastering creme brulee :-)
