So, there's this book...
I talked about it in my last blog post...raved about it in my last blog post.
Was halfway through on my last blog post and now I am on Chapter 1.
Chapter 1? You might say, "Um, Melany. Isn't that a little backwards."
Nope. I finished it and then started right back on Chapter 1 :-) Yes, I am reading it again already.
Oh my word. Never in my life has a book hit so to the core as this one.
It really did meet me on a journey towards worth. I needed this book. I was desperate for this message.
I have been believing lies for a very very very long time. For a very very long time I have looked in the mirror and hated what stared back at me. No matter what anyone else had told me, I have always had a hard time seeing beauty in myself, but that ends here.
I have felt so unworthy of blessings and have beat myself up. I have been my own worst enemy. I have spoken too many words of death and defeat over myself and believed things that were not true - and it ends now. No more.
I guess that I am so addicted to this book because it has been the icing on the cake of a journey God has had me on - a sweet sweet covering with roses and sugared grapes :-)
It feels so good to look in the mirror and see a beautiful face staring back - to see a woman worthy of love and blessings. I am looking at that face in the mirror with new eyes. For once, I am starting to like what I see :-)
I posted on Facebook the other day that if I was rich I would buy this book for every female that I know. It's true - I would.
Alas, I am not rich BUT I do have a piggy bank :-)
So I emptied out my piggy bank and bought another copy of this book to give away.
Isn't my piggy cute? I love him :-)
It's my very first blog giveaway!!!!! Yeah!!!! I am so excited!!!! Can you tell?
So, here is how it will go:
Just leave a comment and answer this question:
What is one of your favorite things about yourself?
I will get you started with an example - One of my favorite things about myself is my laugh - I have a great laugh :-) And I laugh a lot (just ask anyone that has been around me for more than 5 minutes)
Now it's your turn - I know there are so many fabulous things about you. Tell us one of your favorites...
... it could make you a winner :-)
Ps. If you read this blogpost off my Facebook, you may also leave a comment on Facebook to count as your entry.
GOOD LUCK!!!
Winner will be chosen on Monday, April 25.
You are so cute!!! ;-) XO Ebony
ReplyDeletep.s. my favorite thing about myself are my eyes...they tell everything about me. ;-)
So fun! I admit, I've also listened to lies about myself for far too long. Just sitting here trying to say one favorite thing about myself is difficult. So...here goes...one of my favorite things about myself is my desire to learn - about both things that really matter and make a difference (social issues, Jesus, marriage, photography) and things that are just fun (fashion, design, travel, crafts, etc). Thanks for the chance and making me consider something I like about myself! I think I might need to read this...did I mention I love to read? ;)
ReplyDeleteI read this on Christa's twitter. I've been hearing great things about this book and I would love to give it a read. I've struggled with self esteem issues all my life. Never have I heard anyone call me 'beautiful'. But I would like to prove them wrong. I think my personality is my favorite thing about myself. If only people would look past my 'normal' looks maybe they could see it. Too bad they're missing out right? :)
ReplyDeletewhat i love about me is my loving personality :P haha
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Sounds like a great book - and I struggle with these same thoughts and feelings. One thing I life about myself? Hmmmm... my smile.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read Christa's book! I love that I'm not scared of conflict. Being in full-time ministry facing conflict is a relational must!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to read this book for ages! I've read Christa's blog posts for a long time now, I just haven't had the money to buy her book.
ReplyDeleteI would say my favorite thing about myself is how much I love and genuinely care for others. If I only had ten cents and you needed a dime, I'd give mine to you. I think that's a beautiful gift God has given me, though sometimes my doubt and insecurites get in the way.
thanks for this giveaway! christa tweeted about it (: i have wanted to read it before it came out!
ReplyDeletei like my sense of humor
i've been looking for this book everywhere and can't find it except when it's sold out on amazon! thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeletep.s. i like my earlobes haha
Thanks for this...
ReplyDeleteI like my ability to be by myself. A Lot of my friends have to have people around to feel apart. I'm completely comfortable rolled up in blankets with a book and something warm to drink.
My favorite thing about myself is my loyalty to those I care about & I don't back down easily. ; )
ReplyDeleteWhat a simple yet so challenging question...I think that one of my favorite things about myself is my hair. For a long time I despised it, but have always received so many compliments about it, somewhere along the line I guess I just decided to receive those complements as truth!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, thanks for making me think of the positive side of myself instead of the negative. Second, I really like how I will sacrifice things that make me comfortable in order to make others more comfortable. It has a way of making me even more confident than I was before.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about myself is my smile. People always say that whenever they see me, they always see a smile on my face. I'm known for my smile. It's true though. I never let my emotions drag me down to a frown. Whatever situation I'm in, I always manage to put a smile on my face. I believe that it's the little things that make you a strong person, and my smile has to be one of those. I wouldn't change it for the world. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about myself is probably my child-like nature or side of me that creeps up especially around children. This child in me is a true free spirit! She loves to laugh and swing high on the swing set :)
ReplyDeleteGreat blog you have here!
Sometimes it feels SO wierd to say what you like about yourself...BUT if we don't learn how to be pleased with who we are God doesn't get the glory He deserves for creating us! Right?! :) So, here I go! One thing I like about myself is my sense of adventure. I moved from Texas to Los Angeles in the matter of a week because I felt the Lord leading me and without a second guess, I was off on what has been the GREATEST journey of my life so far!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about me is my beard... Lol... But seriously, I love it when it´s a week or two away from the razor... It looks good...
